Make a Japanese Sign in Cinema 4D and Octane

Here’s my longest-yet tutorial: how to design a neon sign from Illustrator splines all the way through to texturing and lighting and rendering with Octane.

This tutorial takes you through finding the ideal word in Google Translate, getting that into Illustrator with a suitable Japanese typeface, and then drawing out the splines to import into Cinema 4D. Once in Cinema 4D I explain the foibles of splines inside Cinema 4D, get some nice Sweep object bulbs, then set them up as illuminating neon bulbs. As a bonus, I go into the settings again for Octane, lighting and rendering, to create the shot at the start of the tutorial.

The project files are available free from Gumroad – please give me money if you can x
